Glen Elder State Park, located just a quarter mile west of of Glen Elder, 5 miles east of Cawker City, and 12 miles west of Beloit in Mitchell County, Kansas, immediately adjacent to U.S. Highway 24, is conveniently situated along the north shores of the landmark 12,500-acre Waconda Lake. Basic groceries, dining, bait and other supplies are available within one mile of the park.
Family-friendly, the Park provides many opportunities including: children’s playground, swimming, boating, hiking, volleyball and softball facilities, reservable group shelter and a public fish cleaning station.
Hiking and Biking Trails are laid out and maintained throughout the entire park system providing opportunity for both fitness and nature enthusiasts. An archery range with a variety of targets set at various distances, is available directly across from the Park's ranger station. Historical Things To See within the park include the Waconda Visitors & Educational Center, Hopewell Church and a replica of Waconda Springs, the lake’s namesake.
